Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

 

To improve Tier 1 instruction

To mentor/coach new classroom teachers

To provide instructional support to classroom teachers

To coordinate and implement research based programs that improve student performance on state standards and document student growth

To serve as a case manager of students that are endanger of not meeting state performance standards

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

              Education/Certification:

              Valid Texas Teacher’s Certificate

              Master's Degree Preferred

              Supervisor’s/Administrator’s Certification Preferred

 

              Special Knowledge/Skills:

              Knowledge of Texas Essential Skills and Knowledge (TEKS)

              Knowledge of interpretation of test scores and various types of data

              Knowledge of effective teaching practices

              Knowledge of 21st Century Skills

              Knowledge of human development and learning theories

              Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

 

              Experience:

              Five to seven years of educational experience

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1.     Instructional Management

  • Applies the finding of research and district data, including common assessments, TELPAS, STAAR, attendance, and discipline to improve the content and outcomes of the teaching/learning process.

 

  • Plans and implements instructional programs based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for all student groups.

 

  • Works with teaching staff to implement the district curriculum documents including the scope and sequence and district resources.

       

  • Is effective in involving instructional staff in appropriately selecting and providing

       instructional materials to meet student learning needs, especially at-risk students.

 

  • Facilitates the appropriate use of district technology in the teaching/learning process including Google suite, Microsoft tools, Chromebooks, tablets, smartboard, document camera, DMAC, Skyward, Eduphoria, etc.

 

  • Encourages and supports the development and models the implementation of innovative

                          instructional strategies to achieve identified needs of specific students. 

 

2.     School/Organizational Climate

 

  • Provides for effective two-way communication with administrators (campus and district), teachers and staff that builds a team atmosphere.

 

  • Ensures that district and campus goals and objectives are implemented with the involvement of principals, teachers, parents and/or students, when appropriate.

 

  • Demonstrates skill in conflict resolution with administrators (campus and district), teachers and/or staff.

 

3.     School/Organizational Improvement

 

  • Monitors school improvement or program activities and takes steps for improvement for student growth and success.

 

  • Monitors classroom improvement or program activities and takes steps for improvement for student growth and success.

 

  • Demonstrates appropriate use of student achievement/growth data in interpreting, reporting and acting on results.

 

  • Participates in district-level decision process and professional development, when requested, to establish and review the district’s goals and objectives and instructional programs.

 

4.     Personnel Management

 

  • Demonstrates skill in “coaching” staff, provides technical assistance to principals,

       teachers, staff concerning the teaching/learning process, and encourages improved

       overall performance and growth based on student/campus needs according to data.

 

  • Makes regular classroom visits; confers with assigned staff to discuss performance;

jointly develops improvement objectives to assist staff in identifying professional growth

opportunities.

 

  • Uses the district’s mission, curricular goals, program evaluation outcomes, and input

from teachers and others to recommend and/or secure consultants, specialists, and

other community resources to provide effective staff development activities or to support   the teaching/learning process.

 

5.     Administrative and Fiscal/Facilities Management

 

  • Implements the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education

rule, and the local board policy.

 

  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility when recommending resources to improve student growth/success.

 

  • Supervise campus tutoring program, if applicable.

 

 

6.     Student Management

 

  • Implements a student tracking system to monitor student growth and student success using various data points.

 

  • Supports district and campus rules for conduct.

 

7.     Professional Growth and Development

 

  • Utilizes information provided through formal and informal assessment data and

a professional growth plan to improve professional skills and knowledge.

 

  • Participates in professional development programs/organizations, disseminates

ideas and information to other professionals, and provides leadership in identifying

trends, opportunities, and barriers.

 

8.     School/Community Relations

 

  • Demonstrates a commitment to district initiatives including PBL and technology.

 

8.2 Communicates district curriculum, instructional practices, accomplishments, goals,

      and new directions to teachers and staff.

 

9.     Other
