PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Under general supervision, assist in maintaining, repairing, and installing electrical and heating and air conditioning systems and equipment for the district. Change A/C filters as scheduled.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Valid Texas driver’s license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to read and interpret written reference material
Ability to perform mathematical calculations
Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
Ability to use hand and power tools
Experience:
Experience in electrical field
Experience in HVAC field
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Maintenance and Repair
1.1 Assist with installing and repairing wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
1.2 Assist with installing and repairing control and distribution apparatus, including motors, relays, switches, thermostats, circuit-breaker panels, etc.
1.3 Assist with installing and connecting power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
1.4 Assist with the measuring, cutting, bending, threading, assembling, and installing electrical conduit using rulers, measuring devices, hand tools, pipe threader, and conduit bender.
1.5 Assist with maintaining all heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
1.6 Assist with relocating and expanding existing HVAC systems as needed.
1.7 Assist with fabricating, assembling, and installing duct work and piping according to specifications and code.
1.8 Assist with performing duct cleaning and air quality testing as needed.
1.9 Receive and complete work orders.
1.10 Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
1.11 Detect needed repairs on equipment following established inspection procedures.
1.12 Respond to emergency calls as needed.
2. Safety
2.1 Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
2.2 Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
2.3 Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
2.4 Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
2.5 Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to Maintenance Director immediately.
3. Other
3.1 Attend school/training sessions as required.
3.2 Perform other duties as assigned by HVAC Maintenance Supervisor
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None
EQUIPMENT USED:
Meters and testing equipment, gages, soldering iron; wire puller; pipe benders and threaders;
welding equipment; hand and power tools (saw, drills, etc.); trencher; jackhammer, concrete
saw; ladder; hoists; propane torch. Light truck or van.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands/Physical/Environmental Factors:
Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, around electrical power lines, outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent district wide travel
